These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Golden Hilal ("the App"). They are the App’s only terms: the Terms of Service and the Terms of Use, separate until now, are joined in this one document. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. License to use the App
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Golden Hilal on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial religious use.
You may use the App if you can form a binding agreement under the laws of your country, or otherwise with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. The App is intended for personal worship and study.
2. Purchases and subscriptions (Golden Hilal Pro)
All worship features of the App are free. Golden Hilal Pro is an optional paid upgrade that unlocks exclusive extras such as premium reciters, reading themes, offline audio packs, and planner tools.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID (App Store) or Google account (Google Play) when you confirm a purchase.
Auto-renewable subscriptions (monthly, yearly) renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period — on iPhone in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, on Android in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
The Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
Use "Restore Purchases" on the Plans page to re-activate a previous purchase on a device signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account.
Prices are shown before purchase, may vary by region, and may change — never retroactively for a period you have already paid for.
Refunds are handled by the store under its terms — Apple at reports.problem.apple.com, Google Play through your order history. We cannot process store refunds directly.
Promotional unlocks, complimentary gift codes from us, invitation rewards, and Pro time obtained with crescents are free, may be time-limited, are not transferable or for resale, and may be modified or withdrawn at any time. Gifts bought with money are covered in section 5.
3. Accounts
Signing in is optional, except for Listen, which needs an account. You can create an account with Sign in with Apple or Google; your use of those services is governed by their own terms. Anyone who can use that Apple or Google account can use your Golden Hilal account, so keep it secure.
You can delete your account at any time from within the App. Deletion is permanent: your synced data, crescents, and rewards history cannot be restored afterwards.
We may suspend or delete an account that is used to abuse the App, its rewards, or its gifts.
4. Crescents, stars and rewards
Crescents are a free reward inside the App. They cannot be bought, have no cash or monetary value, and cannot be sold, transferred between accounts, or exchanged for money or anything outside the App.
You earn crescents only while signed in — for example by reading the Qur’an in the App and when friends you invite join and read. The current rewards, prices, and rules are shown in the App and may change at any time.
Crescents can be spent in the Rewards shop on a set period of Golden Hilal Pro, or on a Pro gift code for someone else. Pro time from crescents is not a subscription: it does not renew and ends after the period shown.
Stars are a second free reward, earned while signed in by checking in each day and completing daily quests. Like crescents, they cannot be bought, have no cash value, and cannot be transferred. Stars can only be converted into crescents at the rate shown in the App, and a conversion cannot be undone. The rules below on abuse and on changing or ending the programme apply to stars too.
The daily check-in pays stars for each day of an unbroken run of days, as shown in the App. When the last day of the run is reached, a new run begins. Missing a day restarts the run from the first day, unless you restore that day: while the App offers it, you can spend the number of stars shown to restore the single day you missed yesterday. Stars spent on a restore are not returned.
Crescents and stars are virtual rewards for use inside the App only. They are not money, a currency, stored value, or your property: we give you a limited, personal, revocable right to use them in the App under these Terms. They have no cash or monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred, traded, or redeemed for cash or anything outside the App, and are never refunded. We may correct a balance that is wrong because of an error, a fault, or abuse.
An invited friend counts only if they are new to the App, sign in, enter the code within their account’s first days, and then read in the App for the required time.
Inviting yourself, using several accounts or devices, automated sign-ups, or any other way of gaming rewards is not allowed. If we detect it, we may withhold or remove crescents, cancel Pro time or gift codes obtained through it, and suspend the account.
A suspension pauses earning, claiming, converting and spending crescents and stars — either for a set time (a timeout) or until we lift it (a ban). The rest of the App keeps working, and you can still sign in, sync and delete your account. Deleting the account does not end a suspension early. If you think a suspension is a mistake, contact us through the App.
We may change, pause, or end the crescents and stars programme at any time, including its rewards, prices, rates, quests, and check-in rules. If it ends, or if your account is deleted, unspent crescents and stars are lost, have no value, and cannot be exchanged or compensated.
5. Gifts
You can buy Golden Hilal Pro for someone else as a gift: 1 month, 1 year, or Lifetime. A gift is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and never renews.
After purchase you receive a gift code and a link to share. The code works once. A 1-month or 1-year gift starts when the recipient opens it, not when it is bought; a Lifetime gift does not end.
You are responsible for sending the link to the right person. Anyone who has the link or code can open the gift, and we cannot move an opened gift to someone else.
Gift codes are not for resale and have no cash value. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms and only to the buyer; if a gift is refunded, its code stops working and, if it was already opened, the recipient’s Pro from it ends.
Gift cards and Pro can also be bought on our website, goldenhilal.com/buy, for someone else or for yourself. Those orders are sold by us and paid through Stripe, which processes the payment securely; we never see or store your card details. Prices depend on the country you are in, worked out from your internet connection when you order. Any tax that applies is shown at checkout. A website purchase is a one-time payment, never a subscription, and gives you a code that works exactly like a gift code. Refunds follow our Refund Policy; a refunded code stops working.
Pro from a gift is tied to the device it was opened on and, if the recipient was signed in, to their account.
6. Religious content disclaimer
Prayer times and qibla direction are calculated estimates based on your location, the calculation method you select, and data from third-party providers. They may differ from your local mosque or community. You are responsible for verifying prayer times and qibla direction with a trusted local authority. The App is a convenience tool and is not a substitute for scholarly or community guidance.
Prayer times, Hijri dates, and qibla direction are approximations generated from your location and chosen settings. Sensor-based qibla accuracy depends on your device compass and surroundings. Always confirm with a trusted local source before relying on them for worship.
7. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App lawfully and not to misuse it. In particular, you agree not to:
reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except as permitted by law;
use the App to violate any applicable law or the rights of others;
interfere with or disrupt the App or the servers and networks it relies on;
redistribute or resell the App or its bundled content as your own.
8. Your content and data
Information you create in the App — such as bookmarks, reading history, and preferences — is stored on your device. If you sign in, it is also stored with your account so it syncs between your devices and survives a reinstall; you can delete your account and its synced data at any time from within the App. Without an account, you are responsible for your device and for any backups, and uninstalling the App removes this data.
9. Intellectual property
The Quran text, translations, and recitation audio are provided by third-party sources and remain the property of their respective owners. The App’s software, design, name, and original artwork are owned by the developer and are protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
10. Third-party services and availability
The App depends on third-party services for prayer times and Quran content. We do not control these services and cannot guarantee their accuracy, availability, or continued operation. Features that require an internet connection may be unavailable offline or if a provider changes or discontinues its service.
We may improve, change, or remove features at any time, and we may update the App to fix issues or add functionality. Some features depend on internet connectivity and third-party services that may change.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT TIMINGS WILL BE ACCURATE FOR YOUR LOCATION.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP — INCLUDING ANY RELIANCE ON PRAYER TIMES OR QIBLA DIRECTION.
13. Termination
These Terms apply while you use the App. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it, and delete your account from within the App. We may suspend or discontinue the App, in whole or in part, at any time.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version.
